Academic Services Home
At Woodridge Local School District, our Academic Services department is committed to fostering lifelong learning and developing essential employment skills in our students from kindergarten through 12th grade. We believe in nurturing the whole child and empowering them to become courageous, persistent, reflective, engaged, and curious learners.
Our comprehensive K-12 approach is designed to instill a love for learning and equip students with the tools they need to succeed in their future careers. By integrating these critical attributes into our curriculum and teaching practices, we aim to create an environment that encourages students to take intellectual risks, persevere through challenges, reflect on their experiences, actively participate in their education, and maintain a keen sense of curiosity.
Our teacher leaders developed five Language of Learning skills to cultivate throughout their academic journey at Woodridge Local School District. Our mission is to instill our students with the Language of Learning skills below in order to provide them with a wide range of opportunities to develop and apply these essential skills:
1. Courage: We encourage students to step out of their comfort zones, express their ideas, and take on new challenges with confidence.
2. Persistence: Our educators help students develop resilience and determination, teaching them to view setbacks as opportunities for growth and to persevere in the face of obstacles.
3. Reflection: Students are guided to reflect on their learning experiences, identify their strengths and areas for improvement, and set personal goals for academic and personal growth.
4. Engagement: We foster an interactive learning environment that promotes active participation, collaboration, and hands-on experiences to keep students engaged and motivated.
5. Curiosity: Our teachers nurture students' natural curiosity by encouraging them to ask questions, explore new ideas, and seek out knowledge beyond the classroom walls.
By emphasizing Language of Learning, our Academic Services department aims to prepare students for success in their post-secondary education, careers, and personal lives. We believe that by cultivating courageous, persistent, reflective, engaged, and curious learners, we are setting the foundation for a lifetime of learning and achievement.
